BeanBandit requesting help for his paper on Hitchcock made me think of this.
I wanted to major in filmmaking in school, but it didn't work out that way (I won't bore you with the details). In the end, I never took one film class.
I'm trying to read through a film text book that I stole from my sister (she has a master of theater degree). It's interesting, but I learn much better through discussions.
So, I'm wondering how many people would be interested in having a scholarly discussion about film.
I would propose that we pick a new film to discuss each week. It would be a film on DVD so that we could all watch it prior to the discussion. Instead of focusing on such conversation as "it was crap" "it was the greatest" we would talk about such things as mise en scene, cinematography, and such. The point being--my film education from you all.
This would probably take place in the software section, but I put this inquiry in Off Topic because that seemed more appropriate at this stage.
So, anyone interested?
