I get pissed when I hear these albums and think of the punchline they've become. Revenge(1992)was their last truly great album Their post-makeup days were pretty spotty, but I thought Revenge was a HUGE step back in the right direction.
Oh well, back on topic. I usually listen to Alive and Alive II back to back. It's almost like being there, isn't it?

I agree that Revenge was a
BIG step forward for KISS back when it came out. I remember watching Gene and Paul get interviewed on Head Bangers Ball right after the release and Gene said "we realized that everything we have been making for the past ten years was basically pop-crap!"
I wouldn't say it was ALL crap, but I will agree that there were many songs that had that distinct odor to them.

(All of Hot In The Shade basically)
Though these days I have to be in the mood to listen to any of the Alives (Though Alive III doesn't even compare to the other two) but when I do listen to them, it brings back great memories of when I first became a KISS fan, back on August 16th, 1977.
Hey it's almost my silver anniversary of being a KISS fan!
