I personally think this movie is garbage and I can't believe it bears the name "John Woo". It sort of kind of looks like his work, but only in the most mechanical way -- it's got all the techinical Woo elements, but none of the story, character or emotion. Yes, it is best described as "the ultimate vanity project".
"Wow Tom Cruise, you're so sexy, you're so brave to do your own stunts. I adore you!" Is that what you want to hear? Well there I said it. Maybe if we prop up his ego enough his head will fill up with hot air and explode.
Mission Impossible was way better in my opinion. Sure I had to watch it a couple of times to understand what was going on, but...
