My Sony DVP-S530D has served me well for a few years, and it still does the job, except for one glitch: It no longer lets me turn off closed captioning. Every DVD I play plays with the English subtitles on, even after I "turn them off" using the menu system with the remote.

Can this be repaired cheaply -- say, with the replacement of a cheap chip -- or would I end up spending as much on the repair as I would on a new player? Any ideas, anyone?
