JBL PB10 & Speaker Settings

I just purchased a JBL PB10 subwoofer recently. I am overall pretty pleased with it!! But my question is as follows:

On my Sony receiver, which has the A & B speaker switch option, i have my front speakers hooked up to the "B" terminals. This is because if i have them in the "A' terminal and set the speakers to "large", it obviously takes away from the signal that is sent to my sub.
But if i have them in the "B" terminals, the signal does not seem to be cut from the sub when set to "Large"
Is the sub signal still being reduced when speakers are in the "B" terminals and set to large?

I currently have the Sony STR-685 as my receiver.
My front speakers are KLH 12" 3Way Floor Speakers Model: 9912
