The definitive 'must have' list. (Playstation 'one')

(Mainly self-serving) I'd like to create a list of must haves for the PSX, (soon to follow with other platforms.) Also, I should stress, I'd like this list to include as many genres as possible.

My choices are (keep in mind my very limited PSX experience):

  • Final Fantasy VII
  • Metal Slug X

Final Fantasy VII: Before this, the last RPG I came in contact with was Earthbound on the SNES.

***skip next many lines to avoid long winded ramblings***

One night last summer, (and still PSX-less,) I had to babysit for my nephew who recently bought up the PSone and became a faithful FF-ite. I picked up a el cheapo NAKI memory card before heading over there. After some playing of mediocre bargain bin titles I had him bus' out FF7 so I could see what all the hype was about all those four years ago. My casual introduction at 10:00 that night soon turned into 3:00 the next morning. I was blown away. It was mainly the story & characters that grabbed me by the yarbles. I bought the game the next week, disregarding the fact that I have not PSX. Soon after I was handed a trunk load of 'broken' consoles to 'play with' that all ended not being broken. Two of those were Playstations. The next month was just a blur of Clouds, Shinras & Sephiroths. Forty hours of clocked gameplay later, I'm still haven't beaten it.

    ***okay, start reading again***

I haven't been sucked so deep into a game in ages, making this a must have.

Metal Slug X: Classic, simple 2D action. Fun, cartoon-like sprites. Big explosions. Many, many enemies attacking you at once. Just as many continues required to beat the game. Even better with two players.
