While I don't understand all the implications either, to say the Sega is actually doing any deveopment for those is a bit of an overstatement. All they did was lisence their middleware to the companies. All that is is a suite of software tools that aid in network programming and tasks. Sega really isn't
doing anything perse, other than selling them their toolset
