Yes, be very carefull. You can really screw things up, and unless you have special training and better yet, equipment, the chances are higher that you will make the TV worse rather than better.
Have you looked into ISF calibration in your area? Prices can vary depending on your location and the type of TV you have. Usually it's around $500.
No one is ever disapointed in the money spent on proper calibration.
