The reason I broke down and pre-ordered (I believe it was on the 6th or 7th) was because I was told exactly that. I got spooked and thought if I waited it'd be impossible to get one.
Not sure if this is nationwide though. It's only one store for sure. (Even then it's not really 'fer sure.')
