The biggest reasons to E-shop are not because of the bargains. I don't think they ever really were but it was nice while it lasted.
It was easier, and still is, to comparison shop online. Also generally you can expect when you order something you will get it and you can pre-order with little worry.
I ordered The Time Machine special edition which I couldn't fund a Brick and moratr store who had it available for pre-order.
It listed as $79.99. I got it a DVDplanet for 55 dollars, 30 perecent off.
