Uh, this scene is included on the DVD's deleted scene menu. Go check!
It was also included in a syndicated TV edit of the film (which also contained some added narration), which Carpenter disowned.
Also, who else was pissed off that all of the deleted scenes on the disc were presented in
full-screen?
