The side quests are very worth doing, and if you love the fighting and leveling systems, it's even more fun. The challenges later on are INSANE. And your spoiler question can only be answered with a HUGE FFX-2 spoiler, so let me know if you want that.
I just bought
Rainbow Six 3: Black Arrow, which is basically an expansion pack with ten new levels, new online modes, and the reason I wushed to get it: split-screen co-op. Even though I have Live, split-screen play (and hopefully link play eventually) with my roomate or another friend kicks it's ass all over the damn place. NO contest. The split-screen plays great too, especially on elite mode... tense as HELL.
