I'm starting to feel like I'm being difficult here... but... who cares about the franchise? You can't watch a franchise. You can only watch individual movies...
I suppose if you decide to have a franchise marathon it might be annoying to have to watch a poor installment, but unless they're all very connected (more Back to the Future and less Die Hard) you could just skip the entries in the series you disagree with.
