Where in the world do you get that from? You said they made their decisions with equal intelligence to Portman. I think that's wrong. What you should have said is equal information. That I might agree with more, but even that is wrong. And not simply in relation to Portman. I don't think every actress realizes what a nude scene might do for or to her career and personal life.

So many people in the country are repressed about sex and nudity, and they instantly assume someone who chooses to show their breasts, have a one night stand, do porn, or whatever else must be naive, stupid, or being abused and taken advantage of in some way. That's just not true.

Says you...a man, who like many I suspect in this thread, just really enjoy seeing tits on screen.
What most of you are not taking into account is why women end up doing these scenes in the first place. If I'm a stuggling actress and I finally land a role that requires me to do a nude scene, what will I do--refuse it? Blow my big chance, even if I am uncomfortable with the scene? If I'm already a major actress, then I know there is a certain cache attached to appearing nude in an artsy film, so do I do it? Maybe it's my chance to win an Oscar? Make the big bucks?
You're not taking this into account because you don't care about that. No one is forcing these women physically to do the scenes, but there are other methods to get someone to do what you want. And before you argue that these women could find other work--could you? What if you went into work tomorrow and they told you that you would have to walk around with your pants down all day while the women were fully clothed? Most men would balk at this.
Now, this is not to say nudity is always wrong in a movie, nor is it to say that every actress is being taken advantaged of. However, it is incredibly short sighted to just assume every woman has made their deicision without outside pressures that can force unnatural decisions. We all know the horror stories of "casting couches," so don't be surprised it extends into other parts of filmmaking.
