I've purchased the Toshiba SD-K850 from Costco mentioned in this thread and have found it to be the most lackluster player I've ever owned. I've experience chronic artifacting (primarily very prevalent combing issues), extremely groggy navigation response, absurd layer change times (@5 seconds) and extreme sensitivity to dust and minor scratches. It is markedly inferior in all respects to my previous DVD player which is, ironically, also a Toshiba player built into a half-decade old all-in-one TV.
Extensive research has pointed me to the Oppo OPDV971H DVD player. It has a DVI output but comes with a DVI-HDMI cable. Don't let the odd brand name turn you off, it appears to be a serious player (yet has a pretty decent price). I cannot report any first-hand experience with this player yet but I'll post again when I pick one up.
