I don't mean this as an attack but, despite your disclaimer of "not in an unhealthy" way, I definitely think that that kind of attachement to total strangers is a bit unhealthy and most definitely

worthy.
I'm a pretty big film fan myself, and like you I have aspirations for a career in that field, but it just seems a tad obsessive to say that people you've never met "mean a great deal" to you and that you'd be upset if a bad choice "caused pain or their career fizzled."
I mean, I too wouldn't be too happy if my favourite actor or director made bad choices and couldn't make films anymore. But not because I care about them as people, only because I want to be able to enjoy their work. I've never met them. I have about the same amount of sympathy for them as I do a stranger on the street.
