Maybe “upset” is too strong a word, but is it so “crazy” to feel bad for someone you don’t know?

I see why if you’re closed minded and add your own baggage to the statement.

It’s not an attachment in the way you’re implying. For example, Star Wars has always been a big part of my life (more so in my childhood). If Lucas died in a car accident, I could see myself being very upset over that. There’s nothing wrong with that. If there is someone you don’t know, but who you greatly admire, I see no reason not feel something towards them.

I guess I should say “their work” means a great deal. I mean, I can only have affection for their public persona, but, again, I see nothing wrong with being happy for someone who does well or being said for someone who fails. That’s just compassion for someone you respect.

I have about the same amount of sympathy for them as I do a stranger on the street.
Well, not to get too deep into it, but separating the person from the work is not fully appreciating the work, IMO.
