It wasn't a bad movie, and I enjoyed it. I don't think it lived up to the hype it received. I also didn't watch the original first, so I didn't have any expectations.
I've found that if you take something, be it a movie, book, video game, whatever, then make a movie out of it (or remake a movie), there will be countless people that will be let down or disappionted because it didn't meet their expectations or stay true to the source.
