I bought it Tuesday. What I can tell you now is that I continue to be bitten by the quality control bug. I had to search through many to find (metal) case that wasn't bent or dinged, or chipped. I got mine to find a tiny chip anyway. (not the end of the world) open it and find some of the glossy inner booklet torn away (like when you put a piece of tape on something and rip it away. Inspect the DVDs and find a few scuffs and scratches (something I am VERY TIRED OF!) But low and behold silly me... maybe I should have keep it. I return it for another one... get home and it is scratched FAR WORSE than the first set. So now (looking like an idiot, I have to go to Best Buy again and make another exchange) Aright!!!

Going on... the second set is missing a catalog that was in the first set. So that sucks to. The glossy cardboard case that holds the DVDs is a somewhat tight fit in the metal Lion case, tight enough to make you bend the edges of the cardboard when you put it in or remove it. I am anal so all this irritates me.

People need to get back to freaking quality control. How are these getting scratched any way? I am assuming a machine is dropping them and someone in the factory puts them right back on the line.

I finally curbed my anger enough to give disc one a spin for about 45 minutes. I was very please with what I saw. Colors are nice and bright. The show doesn't look as horribly old as it is. Yes there is some snap crackle and static, but it is never painfully constant or bothersome. I'm sure it is impossible to get rid of all of it, especially when you read how this set was put together. Audio is about the same as the original, no sense of enhancement here. But that is fine with me for some reason. I don't really need this show to be in 5.1 with killer deep bass. Just getting my childhood blast back is fun enough.

So all and all (when I get a set with minimal scratches) I will call this a good buy.
