Number 1 probably goes along with number 2. He might have been looking for ways to get out of his contract, so decided to start acting like an ass on the set in hopes it would get him fired.

Didn't he also have a traffic run-in with police recently, like ther other two Tailies did before they got killed? Hmmmmm.
I can sort of buy a difficult actor being killed off to get rid of him, but if when he joined the cast he didn't want to devote his full time to the show, as a producer, I would've told him to take a hike right then.
He served no purpose, except to take the place of Locke when Locke stopped being all mystical and shit. So now that Locke is back to where he was in the first place, what was the point? Hell, what was the point of any of the Tailies?
At least the Ben/Juliet/Jack stuff has been pretty interesting. Not sure who's telling the truth, Ben or Juliet.
Oh, and Mr. Eyepatch? Another question that probably won't get answered for awhile, if at all. At least that sort of connects with the glass eye the Tailies found in their hatch.
