I think I may be more in the "C camp" which is: I think there are definitely bad cables, but once you reach a certain point, anything beyond that in price won't return much in higher quality. I have to admit, I can't tell the difference between Vampire and Transparent interconnects over Monsters, but maybe somebody can.

I think the latest issue of Home Theater magazine has a speaker wire face off. The lack of differences didn't surprise me.
