Well, the ratings are not looking good for the show since it came back on the air last week. Last week pulled in 14.5 million viewers, far lower than the 17+ million in the first 6 episodes, and the 20+ million last season. This most recent episode with Desmond's backstory pulled in only 12.8 million viewers, the lowest ever for the show.
Will the audience numbers continue to dwindle during the 14 remaining episodes? If it dips to under 10 million, the show is toast.
Besides the extended hiatus, the switch to the 10PM timeslot seems to have really hurt the ratings, even more so than if it remained at 9PM against the juggernaut American Idol.
