DTVs new HDDVR is ok, not as good as the TIVO that we all had. I also hear that Dish has a much better PQ with it's HD channels. If I wasn't locked into a two year contract ( I may be able to get out of it if they don't replace my HR20 soon ) then I would pop the cash for a Dish system. I have no problem with that, and I have had DirecTV for ever

Yes Tivo does what all the others are trying to measure up to. It's the best thing going, and I was ever so spoiled when I was using it. It's just too bad that both DirecTV and Dish don't want to have anything to do with Tivo, and instead are offering their own DVR systems. But I will say that right now Dish has a pretty much glitch free unit, and even though it may not be as user friendly as Tivo, it does do everything it needs to do. And the upcoming HD channels that were announced by DirecTV will also be available on Dish Network as well. Channels like Sci-Fi, FX, Bravo etc.

Re Dish Networks HD channels PQ, you heard right, the PQ on Dish HD is excellent! There's so many great looking programs on that I'm going HD ga ga I have no regrets going dish.

I hope that DirecTV works with you and actually gives you an HD DVR that works the way it should. But if you do decide to switch over to Dish Network I think you'll be happy.
