This is a mixed bag and depending on how you want to compare things will result in different outcome assemenets.
This *is* the best I've ever seen the film, including in theaters. Some scenes are very, very nice with that lovable HD 3D "pop" everyone loves so much, darker parts though are riddled with heavy grain and suffer from probably the source material. It's just not likely to ever look any better. Shadow detail is often lost, but only in some parts of the film. For the age and fact that this isn't a modern high budget film, it looks fantastic and I highly recomend it.
