Of course you have the room, just look. It's only a wooden box platform a little smaller than the size of your dresser top, and maybe between 8 to 10 inches tall. It's not going to put your set up against the ceiling. It gives you a place for components too. Or just mount the center speaker above.
If you're not adept at carpentry and don't have tools, all fine, you make do with what you have. Of course, if you really do like the look, that's okay. Enjoy it now while single because it won't be like that if you're ever not single.
