That old dresser...
Turn the dresser into your component cabinet, cool idea. And just put your clothes in a thrift store cheapo 4 drawer file cabinet in your closet, like the kind that was used in an old school or gov't office. It works, and everything is easy to find, and it has those neat rolling drawers that won't tilt downward.
Or why not do something nobody has ever thought of, like turning your old dresser into a bathroom sink cabinet. Oh wait, I think I saw that on a hundred home fixup shows.
Actually, I have found the best cabinet to make a component case is an old non-working rear projection TV wood cabinet with doors, where you can take out the TV parts and put in shelves, and then you've got a cabinet on wheels with doors, and easy access front or back. If you don't mind that style that is. If your only component is a DVD player, then that might be overkill.
