That would be the Denon that supports profile 1.1 and actually does pass all the bitstreams over HDMI, not to mention decode them internally.

I don't think you're going to see any major speed differences until profile 1.1 players come out that are require a bit faster processing.

The Sony's DVD playback sucks. Don't know about the Panasonic. I use my HD-DVD player for DVD playback.
