My feelings exactly. I love both of Burton's entries. I also sort of like "Forever", even though it's flawed. But Begins just didn't grab me. Every incarnation of Batman is valid in some way, even if it sucks. Nolan's grittier, more realistic edge is good, but I like a little fun with my Batman. Not comedic or campy, like the 60's series or B&R, but fun. The '89 film (which was my introduction to the character, and probably influences my opinion) is dark and gritty, but it also has a spirit of fun. Begins struck me as heavy-handed and took itself a bit too seriously.
