I'd probably use the larger fuller sounding ones for the rear but I don't have a 7.1 configuration so can't really comment with any 'sound' advice. It's all going to be callibrated anyway, right? I guess I'd go with whatever speakers match your fronts better since I imagine the sides are just 'filler' and may not get much data sent to them anyway.
