I've been looking at the 605 myself, but mainly for the HDMI switching capabilities. Gotta have those those two HDMI inputs to be format neutral.
However, as the new sound formats appear to currently only be decoded in the player, is a fancy new receiver necessary (aside from my need for the HDMI inputs). In other words, could I connect a new HD-A2 to my TV via HDMI and to my existing 502 via optical and still experience the new audio formats? Or is that just wishful thinking? I was just hoping to add/replace one piece at a time instead of all at once as the wife would be less likely to notice.
