The lower models (retail under $1k) do a good job (Faroujda DCDi processing) while the higher models do an excellent job (Silicon Optix Reon processing)

Basically, the higher end retail $1000+ Onkyos and Integras (which are very similar aside from minor featureset differences and styling) net you more power, more HDMI inputs, cleaner power/less distortion, and Reon video processing instead of DCDi.
