Not necessarily, as there may be licensing fees in the decoding process that LG did not have to pay. Remember, all this drive does is read the respective disc and output the entire disc stream for decoding to the computer. It does not handle any codecs, menus, interactivity or anything like that - that is all done by PowerDVD ($99 value).
