Indeed, that's way too "busy". Why the hell does Batman needs fancy engravings on his body armor when it's just going to get scuffed to hell every night while trashing back alley muggers?
Just stick the bat symbol on a goddamn spandex body suit.
Batman: The Animated Series remains the best when depicting Bats' costume in an elegantly understated manner.
