Same deal, set all channels to -12db in decoder setup, sub to 0db. That will regain your bass.

I'm getting the 805, and I'm getting the Martin Logan sub, dammit!
Why not just get the 875 with the Reon while you're at it? That way you can get upscaling too

I'd still bet my HD DVD player the Velo will beat out the ML in your HT room. Remember, you are talking to someone who had dual 18" Bag End Infrasubs in his house at one point, not some HT gear newb. Tell ya what, bring it over my house, we'll have a shootout. The winner gets to keep both subs

Although that would be kind of unfair to you. After all the Velodyne has builtin room EQ unlike the ML - which alone would likely do in the ML - but on top of that the Velo's bass response is rated better, it has more power in reserve, and it has a beefier woofer evidenced by weight. I must say though, the Martin Logan does have a snappier name!

In all truth, I'm sure the ML sounds great in the perfectly-tuned demo room of your local highend audio store; these demo rooms are meticulously setup for best audio response by the store owner. Of course, since most real life rooms in your actual house generally arent tuned for flat audio response, a sub with builtin room EQ calibration will generally destroy the competition without it. While it will still be much better than what you have, don't be surprised if you take the ML home and it doesnt sound quite as good as it did in the demo room at the store for this reason.
