Has anyone signed up and used the Playstation download store yet? I registered and used it a few times. First of all, let me say that registration sucks. I have had a perfectly good credit card refused over and over. I have not been alone in this problem. I ended up using a friend's card instead.
There are lots of game trailers to download and other goodies like themes for your PSP. You can buy PS-1 games, PSP games (I didn't look for any PS3 games, since I don't own one.) It's hard for me to buy downloaded games when I love to have a physical copy of a game. With the PSP, there is the appeal of getting faster loading and run times with the game reading from memory stick instead of UMD. Still, even though the games cost less, you can find the game used on UMD for less than what Sony is asking.
The one thing about the store that appeals to me the most is the ability to buy exclusive (download only) titles. That brings us to this fun little game called BEATS. It's only $4.99, so you can take a chance on this one without feeling burned.
BEATS is a music game like most where you press buttons in time to the music; but for the small price, it offers so much more...
Beats™ is a new and exciting way to interact with your music collection on your PSP®(PlayStation®Portable) system. It breathes life in to your music, by using a beat tracking technology to create gameplay from any song the player supplies. Choose from Challenge or Jamming modes, and experience a new way to enjoy your music on the go.
Key Features:
• Personalized Gameplay - Beat tracking technology creates unique gameplay from any song
• Robust Customization - Animated backgrounds, interactive visuals and downloadable extras give the player full control
• Online Community - Save your jamming sessions and interact in challenge mode, playback or share online with the Beats community
• Multiplayer Gameplay - Play cooperatively or competitively with 1-4 players via Ad Hoc
Yes, you can use your own mp3s!!!
I encourage anyone with a PSP to give this games a try. It's a great little time killer that may kill more time than you intended. It's perfect for todays -life on the go/need a quick minigame-fix.
I just realized I sound like a commercial for Sony. I'm sorry. I just thought I'd tell you guys about something that's got me buzzing lately. If anything, you don't have too much to lose at this price.
