Well, that's full MSRP and I have to imagine he could've saved at least $100 somewhere. I have an RX-V1300, the predecessor by several generations, and absolutely love it. I haven't auditioned anything in some time now, but I'm sure the 1800 is great. While I'd probably lean toward Onkyo/Integra at the moment, I'd take another Yammie. They certainly didn't get a great deal, but I'm sure it will serve them well.

From a quick search, it seems that this new generation still follows the same themes. It has a generous number of inputs, video scaling, multi-zone capable, headroom to spare, has pure direct mode, etc... but it also has many things that weren't around when I bought mine. XM, iPod connection, remote for 2nd zone, HDMI, HD Audio, 7.1 (vs. my 6.1), RS-232C, etc... are things I don't have.
