So, are we talking about the Panny BD30 Blu-ray player? (Too many product names to keep straight; if we're talking about different things, I'll delete this post). If so, I've simply left all "enhancements" off (i.e., at the factory default). I played with some of them, but found in the end that the unmanipulated source was best, and as always making basic, calibration-level adjustments at the display level is preferred. That said, I have a 1080p display; maybe at 720p some of these enhancements might produce more desirable results.
What's this about the black level and IRE? I thought that the black level adjustment on the BD30 was only for non-HDMI output.
