I find it kind of sad that since purchasing a Blu-ray player, the majority of my purchases have still been standard definition. However, this weekend I bought a backup copy of the soon-out-of print Aladdin. My VHS of it broke from overuse, and especially going to college in the fall I want to make sure I have a copy with me at all times but also one safe here where I know it won't come to harm. It is the inspiration for my desire to write with my life, after all. I also finally got the lesser but also entertaining sequels in The Aladdin II & III Collection. These are all from Disney, which of course supports Blu-ray but hasn't released these yet. (Due to their poorer animation quality, I don't think the sequels will be much to look at in hi-def, but I really want to see the original film in hi-def glory.) I fear, however, that since these are just now being "vaulted," they'll again be among the last major Disney animated titles titles to hit the new format (as they were with DVD), which means a long wait.
Also, thanks to a Borders sale I got The Bourne Ultimatium for $14.99 with store coupon yesterday. Release week pricing over a month after release is a pleasnt surprise, as I was expecting to either pay more or have to wait for a proper price drop on the SRP. I would once again like to express my dissatisfaction that I can't have bought this one on Blu-ray, but I suppose the DVD will do. Glad to own the movie in any case; it was a rush!
