I don't think there's any Japanese games in that mix. Are there any European ones? Even if there are, European and NA games are pretty interchangeable in terms of style, so I'm sure European devs pay attention to NA sales figures.
That aside, I hear what you're saying in terms of being "fair" when reporting numbers. I'm sure international sales figures have
some impact on what is being made, but even then I think it's probably negligble in terms of my preferences.
Hell, even with a mega-hit like MGS I personally couldn't care less if I ever get to play it. I never cared for the series (to be fair, I only played the first one on PS1) and much prefer my stealth gameplay to come from the
Splinter Cell or
Hitman franchises.
