I think he understands that Sony is the clear winner. Thus, there's nothing for him to get over. It will probably be late 2008 before Universal and Paramount start releasing Blu-ray discs, so I think he's asking whether an HD DVD player could still be considered a good investment. And the answer is "yes" if there are enough exclusive films he wants, and if he wants a stellar upconverting player. In that case, it really doesn’t matter what the resale value of the films he enjoys
will be worth.
