Right, just in this specific case I feel it is a waste of money because it offers no tangible benefits for its high pricetag. Well there is one benefit, actually. Since the 2500 only has digital PCM output, the in-player channel trims have been enabled for digital PCM - so you can use the -5db to all channels except LFE to work around the PCM bug (or, at least I've heard a few people state this).
OTOH, the Denon 3800 although costing $2000 is a different story because it features the Realta chipset, and that has not been featured by any consumer HD player to date.
