Maybe this time next year I will by a new Receiver and buy a player. Until them I can watch HDM on my directv dvr via HBO, Starz, Etc. Oh yeah I also can throw in a DVD and get the same joy of the MOVIE with out worrying about the things I stated earlier.
Same here. Except I'm not buying a new receiver. I can only have things so loud here in my apartment so I really don't see the point of lossless audio and shit like that. A good 5.1 track set at about 45db works for me. I can't believe how indifferent I am to the whole next gen DVD thing, but I am. I have even surprised myself.

I guess you would call me a fringe enthusiast. I own around 200 DVD's and watch around 3-5 per week. I recently bought a 50" Samsung 1080p DLP that I saved a yr. for. I absolutely love this TV. I guess I should get a BR player that can feed the 1080p capabilities of my set, but fuck it. My DVD's look and sound great, at least to me. I am sure I'll eventually be on board when the format war is truly over and prices start dropping, but the sense of urgency on my behalf is virtually non existent...still.

So yeah, it's not only J6P who needs to be convinced.
