Well, the problem is that the size is so big. Even if you blew up a PC game running at 1600x1200 to 50" it would look shitty without some serious AA/AF.
Fact is, most next-gen games use 1280x720 graphics. Often with no AA or 2xAA, which is not enough; at that size you'd need 4xAA and 8xAF for it to look really nice. MS and Sony saved some money by using 128-bit graphics memory bus, and as a result you see these shitty results in terms of lack of AA/AF. MS tried to alleviate some of the problem with eDram, but even with that there is not enough eDram to fit a single 1280x720 frame - so now you are talking about 1024x600 with 2x AA and 4xAF vs. 1280x720 with no AA/AF... Not sure which is better.
So its a tradeoff, I'd just get used to some of the jaggies. Also make sure your sharpness is not amped up. In the end, IMO it is more fun playing on a big screen with some jaggies than a screen that is 1/3 the size (for me at least).
