The "25000:1" contrast ratio and ones like this manufacturers claim are inflated numbers based on artificial pumping of the colors via techniques such as dynamic iris. While that contrast ratio can be achieved, it is not achieved naturally; the whites are run extremely hot and colors blown out to make up for weaker black response, and as a result when using dynamic iris scenes can look overly pumped/contrasty/artificial. With dynamic iris disabled, or in other words the true performance of the set, you are looking at something more like 2000:1.

As videoworx stated, some manufacturers state the true contrast ratio of the set in addition to the "pumped"/"processed" ratio, but Samsung is not one of these manufacturers. Which is a shame, because their "pumped" specification essentially means nothing.
