Heh. Every church I've seen in the last 15-20 years has had at least an audio system. Many now have projectors, often used to project hymnal verses. I can't really say, since I've only been in churches for special occasions in the last 12 years. Both churches that our Daycare used for their '05 and '06 hristmas programs had projectors and sound systems. One had a ridiculous amount of bass; horrible setup.
I don't know about other places, but I come from a relatively small down (the Village proper is home to just over 1000 people), and I can think of at least 8 churches within the approx. 1 sq mile village. The density of churches seems pretty constant around here, including metro Grand Rapids, which has a population of ~450k people. West MI really belongs in the Bible Belt, but that's a lot of sound systems.
