You seem to think that because something is on paper it materializes 100% in the real world. Sorry but both the initial batch of TrueHD & LPCM tracks offered clearly sounded different from one another. As I said the first title which offered both, the edge went to TrueHD. BTW, have you seen the TrueHD trailer? It spikes well past 11mbps at 7.1 channels & is the loudest/clearest thing i've heard. You know like dts & dolby trailers where all channels get a workout while when select the film its nowhere near as nice.

Stomp the Yard, (great movie btw. ) is the first title I was referring to where the TrueHD track edges out the LPCM & not because of 4db increase in volume. The actual mix is different, so don't be putting 100% faith in studio's claim you are getting the true master because they say so.

AS for the PS3 comments, they come directly at your comparisons to the BD-50 vs. the PS3.
Derb, I'm not claiming that TrueHD soundtracks and PCM soundtracks will always sound the same in terms of the soundtrack, but rather in terms of a FORMAT they will always sound the same. No matter the condition, TrueHD and DTS-HDMA always produce mathematicaly identical waveforms to PCM. That means, no matter what, they will always sound identical. That has been proven by both Dolby and DTS in their whitepapers for their lossless codecs.

As you propose, it is possible that one might have a different master than another. Another factor is that both PCM and DTS-HDMA have a slightly higher master volume level than TrueHD. But in either case, that does not make TrueHD as a format better or worse than PCM. You are then comparing masters, not codecs. As codecs, fed the same master they will always have identical output. If anything, TrueHD/DTS-HDMA as codecs will always arguably be superior to PCM because fed the same master they will offer the same exact output at much smaller average and peak bitrates... Which you can use for higher res sound, more extras, etc.

And that was the problem with your initial posts on TrueHD vs PCM. You frequently implied or outright stated that as a FORMAT PCM sounded better than TrueHD. Which of course is impossible. Sure, master might be different in some cases. But then you are no longer comparing codecs, you are comparing masters and it is important to note that in your post for those who may not be informed on the subject.
