Even when I play with friends there are still plenty of other people there as well... maybe this is because my friends list is like 30 people long, but there's rarely more than a few online at once, and then rarely do they want to play the same game.

So no matter what your friend situation you're going to be playing with other people, and in my experience about 90% of people act like the examples above... pretty much anyone who says anything does... the annonimity of the Internet does crazy things to people.

Thus my hatred of online gaming... well that and I like stories/immersion more than frantic twitch-gaming anyway.

If you want a funny example I have one from the last time I played an online match, which was in Team Fortress 2... Some guy kept humming or singing the same stupid shit over and over, like "velvet velvet velvet velvet" over and over again for like 10 minutes with everyone screaming at him to stop. Eventually everyone was like "kick him, you have to kick him"... I was never talking this whole time. My gamer ID is "StingingVelvet" so one genius says "hey he keeps saying 'velvet' it must be that stingingvelvet guy"... I say, very calm and polite... "it's not me"... first thing I said the whole game. What do I get back? "Whatever FAG"... then I get kicked from the game.

Fun!
