I'm pretty sure it's me being a member of a gaming community. In my case it's Xbox Mature Gamers. I'd say about 90 of the 100 people on my friends list are from that group.
It's nothing fancy, just an invite-only forum whose members play Xbox Live together. The members are mostly guys in their 30's and 40's. Some people are older, some younger, and there's some women. The forum being invite-only ensures we only get cool people and not morons.
When I joined XMG we were one of maybe 2 or 3 such communities (that I know of), but now there's dozens of them out there. The Live Nights that Ruined was doing a while back is kind of an example of one.
