A little more light has been shed on this, it appears to be a bug in the Texas Instruments DSP decoding chip used in the Onkyo/Yamaha receivers. Some of the other receivers out use an Analog Devices DSP which does not have the bug. Onkyo/Integra is giving out ticket numbers, presumably to deal with the issue once they've got a fix finished.
