First thing first is that the Sony is not a HDTV, but the Panasonic one is. So right there Panasonic would be my choice to get. Plus they put out probably the best overall Plasma HDTVs out there.
Although for an extra $100 you can get this
Toshiba Regza 1080p LCD Which i believe has received some great comments on quality from users on this forum.
